We are always looking for talented and motivated scientists. Please send a short description of why you are interested in joining our team, a CV, and if possible the contact details of 2-3 references to one of our group leaders directly or reach out to the administrative team.
50% PostDoc position (m/f/d) AG Lukacs-Kornek
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology is offering a
50% PostDoc position (m/f/d)
in the group of Prof. Dr. Lukacs-Kornek in the topic of tumor immunology.
Prof. Lukacs-Kornek and her team are focusing to determine the role and impact of stromal cells on immunregulation during priming in secondary lymphoid organs and within the tumor microenvironment. Stromal cell biology is an emerging field that investigates how these non-hematopoetic cells contribute to disease development.
The postdoctoral candidate will contribute in a research project that focuses on stroma-immune-tumor cell cross-talk in tumor environment. The applied techniques involve flow cytometry, working with cell culture and CODEX microscopy analyses. The candidate will learn various immunological assays to address the function of stromal cells and will use genomic analyses to address their function.
The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. It is certified as a family-friendly university. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are under-represented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore urges women with relevant qualifications to apply. Applications will be handled in accordance with the Landesgleichstellungsgesetz (State Equality Act). Applications from suitable individuals with a certified serious disability and those of equal status are particularly welcome.
Questions concerning the projects can be addressed to Prof. Dr. Lukacs-Kornek (email).

PhD position – Interplay between macrophages and sex hormones in autoimmunity (Garbi Lab)
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology (IMMEI) at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn invites applications for a
PhD position – Interplay between macrophages and sex hormones in autoimmunity (m/f/o)
Available immediately for three years with the possibility of extension
The successful candidate will join the Department of Cellular Immunology (Prof. Natalio Garbi) to investigate how sex hormones regulate macrophage function in an autoimmune setting. Our previous findings have identified opposing functions of different macrophage subpopulations in the progression of severe autoimmune vasculitis following aberrant nucleic acid immunity (Kessler et al, JExpMed 2022). The project extends on these and other on-going findings to mechanistically delineate how different macrophage populations and sex hormones interact during progression of autoimmune vasculitis by utilizing conventional and state-of-the-art technologies such as single-cell RNAseq, spectral multiparameter flow cytometry and confocal microscopy, lipidomics and proteomics. The overarching goal is to understand key cellular and molecular mechanisms driving severe disease to identify much needed targeted therapies for this disease.
