Postdoctoral position in Immunology (TVL13/100%) “Characterisation of hepatic NK-like T cells” Group Abdullah
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology (IMMEI) at the Medical Faculty Campus of Bonn University Clinic invites applications for a
Postdoctoral position in Immunology (TVL13/100%)
on “characterisation of hepatic NK-like T cells”. Hepatic NK-like T cells represent a diverse and enigmatic subset within the liver immune milieu. Despite their potential significance in immune regulation and therapeutic intervention, much about their biology remains elusive. Recent research conducted by our collaborative team has identified a novel population of NK-like T cells termed NLCs in both mice and humans. During viral infection or immune activation, NLCs exhibit multifaceted functional profiles, indicating both T helper-like and innate lymphocyte functions. In this project, we investigate the development and the underlying mechanisms their helper functions.

Postdoctoral position in Immunology (TVL13/100%) “Metaflammation-induced reprogramming of liver regeneration” Group Abdullah
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology (IMMEI) at the Medical Faculty Campus of Bonn University Clinic invites applications for a
Postdoctoral position in Immunology (TVL13/100%)
on “metaflammation-induced reprogramming of liver regeneration”. This project focuses on liver-resident macrophages (Kupffer Cells, KCs) - key players in liver regeneration. Depletion of KCs has shown to suppress liver regeneration and increase mortality. We aim to identify the cellular and molecular mechanisms induced by metaflammation, leading to the transcriptional reprogramming of hepatic macrophages and their precursors. We investigate how these changes alter KC reconstitution, resulting in functional dysregulation during liver regeneration after acute liver injury or surgical resection. PhD Position in Immunology (TVL13/65%) Group Abdullah
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology (IMMEI) at the Medical Faculty Campus of Bonn University Clinic invites applications for a
PhD Position in Immunology (TVL13/65%)
This position focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying autoimmune complications in chronic infections with RNA viruses, specifically HIV and HCV. Utilising both experimental models and human patient cohorts, we investigate disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers, and explore potential therapeutic targets. Led by Prof. Dr. Zeinab Abdullah, our project provides an opportunity to make significant contributions to the scientific community under her expert guidance. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Christian Kurts, our research aims to identify the roles of nucleic acid sensors in the development of autoreactive T and B cells, as well as autoantibody formation. PhD position – Mucosal Immunology and microbiota research (m/f/o) Group Rollenske
PhD position – Mucosal Immunology and microbiota research (m/f/o)
Available immediately for three years with the possibility of extension.
PhD positions are available to study the intestinal antibody response to the microbiota. We will functionally study the antibody responses to the intestinal microbiota and the antibody function down to the single B cell antibody specificity level. Therefore, we will employ single B cell immunoglobulin gene sequencing, sequence-guided gene synthesis, monoclonal antibody production, antibody binding assays, germ-free, and gnotobiotic mouse models, in vivo bacterial transcriptomics, and single cell host transcriptomic analysis. Our aim is to obtain a detailed mechanistic understanding of the effects of intestinal Immunoglobulin A antibodies on the bacterial target cell and the host immune system.

50% PostDoc position (m/f/d) AG Lukacs-Kornek
The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology is offering a
50% PostDoc position (m/f/d)
in the group of Prof. Dr. Lukacs-Kornek in the topic of tumor immunology.
Prof. Lukacs-Kornek and her team are focusing to determine the role and impact of stromal cells on immunregulation during priming in secondary lymphoid organs and within the tumor microenvironment. Stromal cell biology is an emerging field that investigates how these non-hematopoetic cells contribute to disease development.
The postdoctoral candidate will contribute in a research project that focuses on stroma-immune-tumor cell cross-talk in tumor environment. The applied techniques involve flow cytometry, working with cell culture and CODEX microscopy analyses. The candidate will learn various immunological assays to address the function of stromal cells and will use genomic analyses to address their function.
